
Highlanders Fall to Long Beach State

LONG BEACH, Calif. - UC Riverside dropped a 3-0 decision to Long Beach State on Saturday night at the Walter Pyramid.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCR opened up a 2-0 lead in set one on a kill from Beatriz Silva and an ace from Tylee Fuller. Both teams were neck and neck for the first 14 points of the match.Â
- The Highlanders went on a late 4-1 run to make set one interesting, but the Beach jumped out to a one-set lead despite two kills apiece from Mylei Vargas-Deason and Delaney Tate.Â
- UC Riverside went on a 3-0 run in set two with Jessica Dean behind the service line. Dean started the run with her second ace of the night and the Highlanders' third.Â
- The Highlanders held a 7-5 lead in set three after a solo block from Silva.Â

Mylei Vargas-Deason continued to lead the Highlanders in kills on a single-match basis, recording six kills on 24 swings.Â
