Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team tries to remain unbeaten in conference play this week as they travel to UC Irvine on Thursday, October 10 at 7:00 pm PT, and host Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, October 13, at 6:00 pm.
The Highlanders won their first two Big West matches of the season last weekend with a 3-1 win over Cal State Northridge (box score/recap), and a 2-0 victory over Hawai'i (box score/recap). UC Irvine enters the week with a 6-5-0 record including a 1-1-0 start to the conference season having dropped their Big West opener, 1-0, to UC Santa Barbara (box score/recap), and beaten Cal Poly by a score of 4-3 (box score/recap). The Anteaters are 9-2-1 overall against the Highlanders, and have won the past six matches in a row. Last season, UC Irvine eked out a 2-1 victory over UC Riverside, scoring the game-winner in the first overtime period (box score/recap).
Cal State Fullerton is the only other Big West team with an undefeated mark in conference, as they beat Hawai'i in their home opener, 2-1 (box score/recap) and tied Cal State Northridge, 1-1 (box score/recap). The Titans are 7-4-2 all-time against the Highlanders, including a 1-0 win last season over UC Riverside when Cal State Fullerton was ranked 21st in the nation (box score/recap).

Hilpert did it in the Highlanders 5-0 win over Southern Utah on August 22 of that year (box score/recap).
Lopez tied for the team lead in scoring a year ago with four goals and an assist for nine points becoming the fourth freshman to lead the team in scoring in the program's history: Melisa Escamilla (2010, 2 goals, 0 assists, 4 points); Renee Scachetti (2003, 7 goals, 4 assists, 18 points); and Jessica Armel (2002, 4 goals, 1 assist, 9 points).

Ten members of the Highlanders dented the back of the net in 2011 and 2012, which is the most goal scorers the team has boasted in a season since 2007 when 12 players etched their names into the scoring column. This season, 10 different players have goals to their credit.
SCORING DROUGHT
The Highlanders were shut out 1-0 in four of five matches to close out their non-conference schedule. The last time they endured a similar scoreless streak was in 2010. That season, UC Riverside scored just three goals all year long.
